Sergeant Karl Strohsal was killed in the line of duty when struck by a vehicle on a local interstate. He was supervising a night-time surveillance operation when his vehicle became disabled after striking debris intentionally thrown into the roadway as a prank. When Sgt. Strohsal exited his vehicle he was hit and killed by a drunk driver. A veteran officer and investigator of the Longwood Police Department and former officer of the New York Police Department, Sgt. Strohsal was highly respected by his peers and the community he served.
