Light Up Longwood - Longwood's 1st Annual Holiday Lighting Contest

The goal of this contest is to stimulate and enhance a sense of community by encouraging residents and business owners to decorate their homes and storefronts with a holiday theme. Those who participate will be rewarded for their abilities to go above and beyond in decorating their homes and/or businesses for the holiday season to Light Up Longwood and provide families with a route to enjoy the holiday lights.

Prizes will be awarded to first and second-place winners in each of the two categories: Residential and Business. Contest winners will receive a colorful lawn sign announcing their achievement, recognition on the City’s website, the weekly newsletter, and social media platforms, and a trophy awarded to them by the Longwood City Commission on Monday, December 19, 2022, City Commission Meeting – Oh! And bragging rights for next year’s contest!

Participation is open to all residents and business owners within the Longwood City limits. There is no cost to participate (other than one’s January utility bill!). Submissions and Voting begin on November 1 and end on December 5. 

Voting is open to the public and should be based on unique design and creative use of lights and decorations; storyline or theme; display and placement of decorations, animated objects, etc.; and overall presentation. *All photos submitted are subject to approval.*

Contest winners will be decided shortly after voting has ended and notified to attend the Monday, December 19, 2022, City Commission Meeting where they will be announced and awarded a trophy. Additionally, the placement for winning lawn signs will be arranged and the winners will be featured on the City of Longwood’s website, the weekly newsletter, and social media.

Participants should ensure that all lights, animations, and decorations are displayed and operational between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
